Our firearm destruction process follows four key steps.
-
1
We handle on-site pickup and removal.
This protects you from the risks of driving with firearms, breaking laws, or trying to unload a gun you may not be familiar with. NorCal Gun Services holds a Federal Firearms License (FFL) which allows us to legally take possession of the firearms without requiring you to process a transfer. -
2
NorCal Gun Services will permanently destroy the firearm.
Following strict ATF regulations, we torch the receiver or frame into three parts or use a saw to cut it into five parts. This ensures the firearm is effectively disabled and can never be restored or used again. -
3
The Destruction is Documented Reported to ATF.
Photographs are taken at each stage of the destruction process. These records are logged and reported to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to confirm compliance and ensure the firearm is legally removed from your family’s name. -
4
You receive proof of destruction.
After our Placer County firearm destruction service is complete, you will receive emailed proof for your records, confirming the firearm has been permanently and legally disposed of.

Home-Built Rifle Destruction
These before, during, and after photos show the legal destruction of a home built rifle. A change in California law in July 2019 reclassified this type of firearm as an illegal assault weapon. Possessing it without registration or modification could have resulted in felony assault weapon charges under California Penal Code §30600. By cutting the receiver and documenting the process, the owner avoided criminal liability and ensured the firearm was permanently destroyed legally and safely.
